"LGBTQ Services in Asheville, NC:
Asheville Health Center offers the following services specifically for clients who identify as LGBTQ:

Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy
Transgender clients, regardless of age, gender identity, or gender expression, are welcome to visit any of our health centers to receive the preventative, sexual, and reproductive health care services we provide in an affirming environment.

For transgender clients ages 18 and over, we provide gender-affirming hormone therapy on an informed consent basis. This means that our providers will work with you to develop a plan of care based on your health care needs and transition goals. We do not require a mental health referral to initiate hormones.

We can also provide referrals to other transgender-affirming medical services and community resources. At this time, we do not provide pubertal suppression services for adolescents.

At this health center, these LGBTQ services are available:

On a walk-in basis: as schedule allows
Here’s what you need to know about services for LGBTQ clients at this health center:
When you call for an appointment to begin or continue hormone therapy, one of our front desk staff members will help you schedule your appointment and talk with you about what to expect.

At your first appointment, our provider will take time to:

Review your medical history
Discuss your goals and expectations
Confirm your understanding of the potential risks and side effects
Answer any questions you have
Connect you to available community resources
Your first appointment also allows our provider to order the necessary lab work to ensure you are medically eligible to begin hormone therapy.

Clients under our care receive a written prescription for hormones which they fill at a pharmacy. Planned Parenthood does not provide pharmacy services for these hormones.

Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have previously been made."

Our membership includes nonbinary, genderqueer and gender fluid folks as well as trans women, trans men and our family, friends, and allies. Over the years our membership continues to change and evolve, and we continue to celebrate and nourish the incredible diversity within our community."
